Why Cats and Dogs Can't Get Along

It has been described in mass media from cartoons, books, and movies. Cats and dogs are not meant for each other. But why is that? Is there any particular reason for it to happen.

                                                                                              take that!

One of the factor is Instinct. Dogs can be considered as  natural predators of cats. A dog can look intimidating to a cat.   Cats do not like sudden movement, loud noises as barks and anything larger than them. When a dog try to greet a cat by moving suddenly to it, the cat will run and by its natural instinct, the dog will chase. So, there goes the chase and run scene that most of us are familiar with.

Another reason is both animals have different interpersonal styles. Dogs wag their tail as a sign of greeting. To a cat, it is a sign of anger. Dog want to sniff the cat as one of their way to mingle, but cat don't favor it that much and start to run. Then, there goes the chase and run scene again.

From that first impression and introduction, if it is too worse, I don't think that both of them will recover. So, both will be enemies for the encounters.

But, when the subjects are puppy and kitten that were raised together, it is a different story. They know each other so well from the start and they have lived many years among each other companionship. This kind of friendship will not be broken by either their instinct or interpersonal styles. Awwww, that is cute right?
