The answer is they dont. It is in their nature to do so. Human and cats share similar driving factor, which is hunger. When human feel hungry, they will search for food. When cat is hungry, they will beg for food.
But are cats always hungry when they beg for food? Study shows that cats may beg for food even though they are not hungry. The cause is from psychological aspect where the cat has been obsessed with food. Sounds familiar right? It shows that even cat can shares human enthusiasm towards food.
They are some tips that we can use to contain this behavior. First, make your dinner table is cat free zone. Whenever your cat try to beg, or jumps on it, remove them. Make it clear for them.
You have to feed the cat in its own dish. Do not allow them to feed from the plate, the table or any other places than their own dish.
Feed the cat with cat food. Do not give human food to them. Whenever cats feel that human food is tastier than them, they will go the extra mile in order to get it.
Feed the cat earlier than your meal time. Your cat will not bother you if they have already full.
Personally, I really like when they do that. It is rather cute. But to think on their behalf is a responsibility that an owner should possess. To be brief, all owner want their cat to be healthy, both physical and mental.
